Getting Rid of Mild Pain Using a Generic Darvocet

Are you tired because pain keeps you up at night? Do you want relief? Generic Darvocet is used to relieve mild to moderate pain with or without fever. Darvocet contains a combination of propoxyphene and acetaminophen. Propoxyphene is in a group of drugs called narcotic pain relievers. Acetaminophen is a less potent pain reliever and a fever reducer that increases the effects of propoxyphene.

Take this medication by mouth as directed by your doctor. It may be taken with food if stomach upset occurs; however, the drug may not work as well. Consult your doctor or pharmacist about other ways to reduce stomach upset. Darvocet dosage is based on your medical condition and response to therapy. Pain medications work best if used when the first signs of pain occur. If you wait until the pain worsens, this medication may not work as well.

Use this medication exactly as prescribed.

Do not exceed the maximum daily dose of propoxyphene napsylate. Do not increase your dose, take it more often or use it longer than prescribed because it can be habit-forming. If this drug is prescribed for an extended period of time, do not suddenly stop using it without your doctor's approval.

Federal law prohibits the transfer of acetaminophen; propoxyphene to any person other than the patient for whom it was prescribed.

Propoxyphene is a potent narcotic pain-reliever and a cough suppressant to boot. Acetaminophene is a non-narcotic analgesic which reduces fever [antipyretic]. The combination of both Propoxyphene and Acetaminophene works effectively in bringing down fever and reducing pain, than if either one was to be used alone.

Darvocet is used for the relief of mild to moderate pain, with or without fever. Do not take Darvocet if you are suicidal or addiction prone, or if you are sensitive to or have ever had an allergic reaction to propoxyphene or acetaminophen.

Tell your doctor about all prescription, over-the-counter, and herbal medications you are taking before beginning treatment with Darvocet. Make sure your doctor knows if you are taking tranquilizers, sleep aids, antidepressants, antihistamines, or any other drug that make you sleepy. The use of these drugs with propoxyphene increases their sedative effects and may lead to overdose symptoms, including death. Also, talk to your doctor about your complete medical history, especially if you have kidney or liver problems, if you use alcohol in excess, or if you are suicidal or addiction prone.
